Zentrieren MoEP EU-Twinning

The Kick-off Event

Sixty people gathered in Tel Aviv on Sept. 9th for the launch of the Israeli ministry's second Twinning project. The two-year project will focus on passing an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) law, resource efficiency and eco-management. The overall goal is to improve environmental regulatory and management tools for Israeli industry, and sustainable development in Israel. More on the twinning launch.

Aside from project participants, the launch was attended by representatives from the EU Delegation to Israel, and from the Israeli, German, Austrian, and UK embassies. Heads of environmental district administrations, industry representatives, and officials from other Israeli ministries were also there. Project experts presented background information on environmental management, resource efficiency, and soil protection and remediation, stressing Israel’s potential in these areas.

This is the second environmental Twinning project between Israel and Germany. The first Twinning project, which ended in February 2015, helped Israel begin the process of moving toward progressive environmental regulation of industry. While several of the professionals are continuing their work, including the Israeli and German project leaders, there are also new team members. There are also experts from two new countries: Austria and Northern Ireland.

Stay tuned to our Twinning newsletters, which will introduce both continuing and new team members, and present their visions for this unique partnership. In the meantime, learn more about this project and the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection.
